Today we started our Kickstarter campaign for Musa Masala: Mountain Girl of the Himalaya!

Our reason for the Kickstarter is simple: to raise the funds needed to create our book and bring it to the public. Costs for the magic it takes to print and promote a book of this nature are considerable and once they are met through the Kickstarter, all proceeds will go directly to the Wongchhu Sherpa Memorial Hospital Fund. In other words, we need to raise this money to make that support happen.

We started the book project with the hope of contributing to people’s ability to access quality healthcare in the lower Solukhumbu region of Nepal. Since our beginning, we have raised money with the sale of items we have created, an art sale and auction and a comedy show, and we are just getting started.

This book is a special creation we have been longing to see since its inception at Everest Base Camp two years ago. It has required an immense amount of work by Julie Ramirez who illustrated it, Mike Sirota who edited it and August McLaughlin who turned our ideas into pages that light up the eyes and imagination.

We are very happy to bring Musa’s story to all of you. We hope everyone who reads it will enjoy it and see the spark that takes this courageous orphan girl on a life changing  journey.
