We did it again, another comedy show! We were so lucky that the Voodoo Comedy Showcase in downtown Denver let us move in for a couple of hours to laugh and raise some money. Here is a little overview of last month’s show in Denver and last year’s in Utah! Keep your eyes open for more Musa comedy near you!

We dedicated this show to our inspiration and friend Dr. Jen. We miss her terribly, and we know she would have loved to have been there. Her infectious laughter and spirit will always be with us.

Here are the comedians with Mike Ji at the Voodoo Comedy Showcase. Left to right: Mike Ji, Louis Beck, Christie Buchele and Nancy Norton

On October 30th, Musa Masala trekked to Denver, Colorado for the 2nd Musa Masala Comedy Jam Jam. We were so lucky to that Voodoo Comedy Showcase in downtown Denver let us move in for a couple of hours to makes some laughs and raise some money.

Once again Louis Beck opens the show and MC’s the evening, great job Louis!!

Comedian Louis Beck once again put the show together with a great lineup of three comedians. He opened the show with his great act and kept it going by introducing Christie Buchele. She is super funny and actually teaches comedy classes at Voodoo Comedy. We were so fortunate she wanted to join us. Thanks, Christie!

Christie Buchele did an amazingly funny act. We are so grateful to her!

Our headliner, Nancy Norton, came on and immediately made a connection with the Musa audience. Nancy is a nurse and her banter with the crowd was hilarious. Nancy had a great article in the Denver 5280.com, you can check it out here.

Headliner Nancy Norton connects with the medical crowd using her experiences as a nurse to tell many, many truths!

She stopped her act in the middle to bring up her friend, Sukumar Vijayaraghavan, a neuroscientist, who did his first ever standup. He was great! Nancy came back to finish out the evening and close the show.

First time standup! Sukumar Vijayaraghaven proves that neuroscientists can be funny too!

We then had a brisk sale of our book, Musa Masala: Mountain Girl of the Himalaya. Our shirts, cards and bandanas also sold well. It was a great fundraiser and we not only sold books that will benefit the Wongchhu Sherpa Memorial Hospital, but we also covered the cost of our altitude safety cards that we donate to the Himalayan Rescue Association clinics in Manang, Pheriche and Everest ER in Nepal.

Thank you so much, Christie Buchele and Nancy Norton, for sharing your time and amazing talent with us. Louis Beck, we are very thankful for you and all your effort, beyond just telling jokes! Thank you, Voodoo Comedy Showcase, for having us.

We plan on continuing with our Comedy Jam Jam series. Where will we show up next, who knows?

Our first show in Heber City, Utah at Timpanogas Tavern really set the pace for us. We believe in having fun and going fun places and doing fun things, while doing something worthwhile to help others. These shows help us do just that. Last year’s show with Pallavi Gulian and Steve Akihito, and, of course, Louis Beck, was so great, it really started something.

Not only are we thankful to our comedians, but to the people who come to see the shows and make them happen. The chance to bring people together for some laughs is really special, but for the people who come out to see it and help us with these projects that Musa has thrown ourselves into makes all of this possible.

Dhanyabad and Jam Jam!!
